The labels that are offered are designed to be used in a hand-held labeling gun.  The gun will print a date and dispense the sticker so the user can apply the label directly onto the product.  Applying the sell by labels becomes extremely quick and accurate.  The user sets a date to print below the sell by phrase.  As the user clicks the hand trigger, the date is printed and when the trigger is released, the sticker dispenses.  Companies in a wide variety of industries; food production and agriculture, medical, any sort of manufacturing, and many others have found a great operational benefit with the label guns.  Small to medium size organizations can find these tools to offer the primary solution to their needs.  Large companies might not use hand held labeling as their primary means of displaying information on the high volume products, but using this option for sell by labels can be a tremendous back-up, or the predominate solution on lower volume products.  Some of the features that make this option very appealing vs. something like a continuous ink jet printer are;

Adhesive Options

Because there are so many different applications for a product such as this, many different options for the construction and adhesive properties are offered.  The labels come standard with a general-purpose adh.  This will work well for a huge variety of uses.  Other options include a more aggressive permanent, less aggressive removable, FDA approved for edible surfaces, deep freezer, and more.  Construction refers to the way the paper itself is produced.  Options include tamper cut, non-tamper cut, ultra tamper cut, dissolvable, synthetic (water resistant), and more.  The sell by label is being required on more products each year.  It is necessary to offer these options so your organization will remain in compliance by keeping the sticker visible.

Imprint Phrase

An important consideration to think about is regarding the specific imprint.  Imprint is the writing on the label and sell by generally is perceived as a date which is communicated to the retailer.  Obvioulsy, end consumers are very familiar as many perishable products have this phrase.  However, there might be a phrase that you believe could work better and we offer several options.  Sometimes consumers can interpert a sell by almost as a throw away date even though that could not be further from the truth.  We always try to discuss what phrase will work best for the application and provide as much information regarding all options as possible.
